• Το Α-λιποϊκό οξύ (ALA) αποτελεί ένα σπουδαίο αντιοξειδωτικό, με δράση παραπλήσια των βιταμινών.
• Παίζει σημαντικό ρόλο στη διαδικασία παραγωγής ενέργειας στα κύτταρα και προστατεύει τον οργανισμό από το οξειδωτικό στρες.
• Συχνά, χαρακτηρίζεται ως "καθολικό" αντιοξειδωτικό, διότι είναι διαλυτό τόσο στο νερό όσο και στο λίπος και, επομένως, μπορεί να εξουδετερώνει τις ελεύθερες ρίζες τόσο ενδοκυτταρικά όσο και εξωκυτταρικά.
• Αντιθέτως, η βιταμίνη C και οι βιταμίνες του συμπλέγματος Β (υδατοδιαλυτές), δρουν μόνο στις υδαρείς περιοχές των κυττάρων και των ιστών, ενώ οι βιταμίνες A, D και Ε (λιποδιαλυτές) δρουν μόνο στις λιπώδης περιοχές.
• Το ALA υπάρχει σε δύο διαφορετικές μορφές (εναντιομερή), το R- και το S-λιποϊκό οξύ. Το ανθρώπινο σώμα παράγει το R- εναντιομερές, το οποίο αποτελεί την βιολογικά ενεργή μορφή λιποϊκού οξέος, που βρίσκεται σε όλα τα κύτταρα του οργανισμού. Ωστόσο, και οι δύο μορφές παίζουν σημαντικό ρόλο στην παραγωγή κυτταρικής ενέργειας.
• Οι ιστοί με μεγάλες ενεργειακές απαιτήσεις, όπως το συκώτι και οι μύες (περιλαμβανομένης της καρδιάς), αλλά και τα κύτταρα του σπέρματος, έχουν μεγαλύτερες ανάγκες για R-λιποϊκό οξύ, ενώ άλλα κύτταρα με χαμηλή κατανάλωση ενέργειας, όπως του αίματος και των αρθρώσεων, έχουν μεγαλύτερες ανάγκες για S-λιποϊκό οξύ.
• Η παραγωγή, όμως, του λιποϊκού οξέος, φυσιολογικά, μειώνεται με την ηλικία και γι' αυτό το λόγο συνιστάται η λήψη συμπληρωμάτων λιποϊκού οξέος, τα οποία αποτελούνται συνήθως από μείγμα των δύο μορφών (R- και S-) σε αναλογία περίπου 1:1.
• Το λιποϊκό οξύ επιταχύνει την πρόσληψη της γλυκόζης από τα κύτταρα και μειώνει την αντίσταση στην ινσουλίνη σε διαβητικούς τύπου 2, προστατεύοντας έτσι από παθήσεις (αρτηριοσκλήρωση, νεφροπάθεια, τύφλωση) που προκαλούνται από τα υψηλά επίπεδα γλυκόζης στο αίμα. 
• Πολυάριθμες μελέτες αποδεικνύουν τη σημαντική συμβολή του λιποϊκού οξέος στην αντιμετώπιση της διαβητικής περιφερικής νευροπάθειας, μία επιπλοκή που εμφανίζεται συχνά στους διαβητικούς.
• Σε διπλά-τυφλή κλινική μελέτη, χορηγήθηκαν ενδοφλεβίως 100 mg, 600 mg ή 1.200 mg λιποϊκού οξέος ή placebo ημερησίως σε 328 ασθενείς με διαβητική νευροπάθεια για τρεις εβδομάδες. Τα αποτελέσματα έδειξαν ότι στους ασθενείς που έλαβαν δόσεις 600 mg και άνω, σε αντίθεση με αυτούς που έλαβαν placebo, μειώθηκε σημαντικά το μούδιασμα και ο πόνος, συμπτώματα που συνοδεύουν την περιφερική νευροπάθεια (Diabetologia, 1995, 38, 1425-1433).
• Σημαντική βελτίωση της νευρικής λειτουργίας και ανακούφιση από τα συμπτώματα της νόσου (πόνος, μούδιασμα, αίσθημα καύσου, μυρμηγκιάσματα κ.ά.) παρουσίασαν διαβητικοί τύπου 2 σε ανάλογη διπλά-τυφλή μελέτη διάρκειας 14 ημερών (Diabetes Care, 2003, 26, 770-776).
• Αν και στις περισσότερες κλινικές μελέτες, οι δόσεις χορηγούνται ενδοφλεβίως, ωστόσο και η λήψη λιποϊκού οξέος μέσω στόματος (per os) έδωσε πολύ ενθαρρυντικά αποτελέσματα σε διαβητικούς με αυτόνομη καρδιακή νευροπάθεια (CAN) που έλαβαν 800 mg ημερησίως για 4 μήνες (Diabetes Care, 1997, 20, 369-373). Σε άλλη μελέτη, παρατηρήθηκε σημαντική μείωση των επιπέδων της γλυκόζης στο αίμα σε 74 διαβητικούς τύπου 2 που έλαβαν 600 mg λιποϊκού οξέος 1-3 φορές την ημέρα για 4 εβδομάδες (Free Radic Biol Med, 1999, 27, 309-314).
• Μελέτες σε ζώα έδειξαν ότι το S- και R- λιποϊκό οξύ μπορεί να προσφέρει ανακούφιση από τα συμπτώματα της νευροπάθειας από πίεση, καθώς βελτιώνει την αιμάτωση των νεύρων, συμβάλλοντας έτσι στην αποτελεσματικότερη μεταβίβαση των νευρικών ώσεων.
• Έρευνες έδειξαν ότι το ALA δρα συνεργικά και ενισχύει τη δράση άλλων αντιοξειδωτικών ουσιών. Αυξάνει την ενδοκυτταρική γλουταθειόνη και τα επίπεδα του συνενζύμου Q10, ενώ παράλληλα συμβάλλει στην αναγέννηση των βιταμινών C και Ε. Ενισχύει το ανοσοποιητικό σύστημα και βοηθά στην αντιμετώπιση του συνδρόμου χρόνιας κοπώσεως.
• Επιπλέον, έχει την ικανότητα να χηλικοποιεί ορισμένα μέταλλα (χαλκό, μαγγάνιο, υδράργυρο, κάδμιο κ.ά.), προστατεύοντας έτσι το συκώτι, αλλά και ολόκληρο τον οργανισμό, από την τοξική τους δράση, ενώ παράλληλα βοηθά στην αντιμετώπιση ηπατικών διαταραχών, όπως κίρρωση, ηπατίτιδα κ.ά.
• Λόγω της ισχυρής αντιοξειδωτικής του δράσης, το λιποϊκό οξύ δίνει πολύ καλά αποτελέσματα στο δέρμα, καθώς βοηθά στην επιβράδυνση της διαδικασίας της γήρανσης και χρησιμοποιείται ευρέως σε προϊόντα κοσμητολογίας.
• Επιπλέον, το λιποϊκό οξύ, επειδή διαπερνά εύκολα τον αιματοεγκεφαλικό φραγμό, προστατεύει τα εγκεφαλικά κύτταρα από τη δράση επιβλαβών ουσιών (Brain Res, 2000, 855, 292-297) και πιθανόν να δίνει θετικά αποτελέσματα σε πάσχοντες από Alzheimer ή άλλες δυσλειτουργίες της μνήμης (Free Radic Biol Med, 1995, 19, 227-250).
• Μελέτες σε ζώα έδειξαν ότι το S- και R- λιποϊκό οξύ βοηθά στην πρόληψη του καταρράκτη και προστατεύει τα μάτια από την υπεριώδη ακτινοβολία, καθώς ενισχύει τη δράση των βιταμινών C και E (Free Radic Res, 1996, 25, 337-346) (Free Rad Biol Med, 1995, 18, 823-829). Επιπλέον, σε ασθενείς με γλαύκωμα, που έλαβαν 150 mg λιποϊκού οξέος ημερησίως για ένα μήνα, βελτιώθηκε σημαντικά η όραση (Vestn Oftalmol, 1995, 111, 6-8).
• Το ALA βοηθά στην παρεμπόδιση του πολλαπλασιασμού του HIV, αναστέλλοντας την αντίστροφη μεταγραφάση και τον πυρηνικό παράγοντα kappa-B, που σχετίζονται με την εξέλιξη της νόσου (AIDS) (Klin Wochenschr, 1991, 69, 722-724) (Biochem Biophys Res Commun, 1992, 189, 1709-1715).
• Επιπλέον, έχει χρησιμοποιηθεί και ως αντίδοτο σε δηλητηριάσεις από το θανατηφόρο μανιτάρι του γένους Amanita, αυξάνοντας κατά πολύ το ποσοστό επιβίωσης (Verlg Gerhard Witzstrock, 1980, 197-202).

For the rest of Greece, delivery to your place is by courier the next day. In some remote areas, the delivery time can be up to 2 days. If any product is not available at the pharmacy, waiting time can reach 3 to 4 days. In case of delay of more than 4 days, the pharmacy comes in contact with you. For orders of more than 39 euros, shipping is free.

Reminded that if the payment method is by "Cash", a surcharge 0,70€ is applied. (For orders over 39 euros, then delivery cost is free).

Shipping to Cyprus

Shipping to Cyprus is within 2 to 3 working days by FPC ELTA courier and shipping costs are 15€ for orders up to 2kg. If ordering more than 2 kg, the extra cost per kilogram is 2,7€. Also, the cost of payment if you wish to pay by cash on delivery, amounts to 3 euros.

Orders are shipped abroad using DHL and the average delivery time is 2 business days (as business day is considered until 13.00 GMT+2 for shipping abroad)

If a parcel is sent back to Pharmacy2go by DHL, or your parcel is damaged a further investigation is needed. After the appropriate investigation, into the cause of the return, by the shipping company (DHL), and if found that the parcel were returned / harmed by our fault or DHL's we can full refund the amount of the order either to your Credit Card t or we can send you a coupon for an upcoming order.

In some remote areas, the dispatch by courier is still weak. Where these are delivered by mail and do not force the delivery. For the exact cost of your order, the Pharmacy2go will contact you prior to shipping. For orders over 3kg and more bulky packages prior consultation with the pharmacy, because shipping costs vary.

For heavy items you want to send are delivered by transport agency (receipt from the headquarters of the agency). This does not apply to delivery. Should be preceded by deposit money into one of our bank accounts.

Delivery

1. Unless the parties agreed otherwise on the time of delivery, the trader delivers the goods by transferring the physical possession or control of the goods to the consumer without undue delay, but not later than 30 calendar days from the conclusion of the contract.

2. Where the trader has failed to fulfill his obligation to deliver the goods at the time agreed upon with the consumer or within the time limit set out in paragraph 1, the consumer shall call upon him to make the delivery within and additional period of time appropriate to the circumstances. If the trader fails to deliver the goods within the additional period of time, the consumer is entitled to terminate the contract.

The first subparagraph shall not be applicable to sales contracts where the trader has refused to deliver the goods or if the delivery within the agreed delivery period is essential, taking into account all the circumstances attending the conclusion of the contract, or where the consumer informs the trader prior to the conclusion of the contract, that delivery by or on a certain date is essential. In these cases, if the supplier fails to deliver the goods at the time agreed upon with the consumer or within the period specified above, the consumer is entitled to terminate the contract immediately.

3. Upon termination of the contract, the trader shall, without undue delay, reimburse all sums paid under the contract.

4. Termination of paragraph 2 shall be without prejudice to any legal rights of the consumer in the general provisions.


Fees for the use of payment instruments

It is forbidden to the trader to charge consumers for using a particular payment instrument, fees that exceed the cost of using this instrument by himself.


Passing of risk

In contracts where the trader dispatches the goods to the consumer, the risk of loss or damage to the goods shall pass to the consumer when he or a third party indicated by the consumer and other than the carrier has acquired the physical possession of the goods. However, the risk shall pass to the consumer upon delivery to the carrier if the carrier was commissioned by the consumer to carry the goods and that choice was not offered by the trader, without prejudice to the rights of the consumer against the carrier.
